Five new songs for 2023 including a raucous cover of Spirit’s "I Got a Line on You" comprise Trosky’s latest digital release. Topics include (responsible) partying during COVID, speaking to our future selves, coming to terms with our kitchens and OCD, and a humbling of the male spirit in which the band admits defeat and calls upon women to change the world. Throw in a Farfisa organ, a cello, jaunty piano, and some haunting guitars and you have the sonic cocktail which is Rules for Future Living.

When LA Explosion came out I was hugely disappointed. After the meltdown that was the "She Don't Know Why I'm Here" 45 it sounded anemic and lifeless. Fast forward 40 years and we have a meaty, rockin' album that destroys the debut in terms of attack and Farfisa rock'n'roll oomph. It really should have come out in 1980 instead of languishing all these years. For me, that long ago 45rpm will never be topped, but this is so fine it's impossible to resist. brooklynboy
